I created a new section for discussions tied to specific geographic locations.

If you want to propose a meeting with other members in your area, then please post it in that section. If you post in Main, then your thread will end up being pushed down too quickly, and many people who live in your area won't get a chance to see it.

In addition, I'm going to include listings from that section into message digests. So the number of people who would potentially see your announcements should increase.

What is a message disgest ? Is the the weekly --bi weekly email that tells us the hot topics ?

Yes, it's the digest of topics on the board. It lists the top topics in each section.

By moving the offline announcements into their own section, I'm hoping to give them more exposure. When created in Main, such topics usually don't make it into the top list. So not many people see them.

Will discussions of quilt shows be bumped to the new section? Usually someone suggests meeting at one, but they aren't always intended as such.

I guess it would depend on how the conversation starts. But in any case, once you settle on the details, then you can always create a new thread in that section announcing the time and the place.
