New Sewing Machine
Happy Birthday to me!! I will be 79, August 3rd...I got a new sewing machine today.,I've been sewing on the little Janome for several years now, it's pieced several quilts..so I got the 6700 P Janome Sewing and Quilting machine, and I am in awe of what all it can do..in love with it...can't take that $$$ with you, might as well enjoy it while you can..Can't wait to get started on a new adventure in sewing and quilting..I have just about got my sewing room set up, I sold my home after my wonderful DH passed away..and my youngest daughter and her Dh had a new home built and a wing just for me.. I was married 56 years...so making a big move was not that easy..I lived 2 yrs and 5 months by myself..decided that wasn't what I wanted to do..moved into the new home in April..so getting my sewing room done has been a chore, I wanted several storage items from IKEA and due to Covid have had to wait on getting them, but finally got them all and the room is just about finished...My first project will be a T-shirt quilt for my grandson,,, his two sisters already have theirs that I made for them..Than I have several projects that my mom had started before she passes away, so making my mission to finish those.. I don't need anymore fabric, thread or anything like that..just finding a place to put everything up has been a chore..but loving every minute of it..I do have a huge closet which is great for storage of scraps, and battings etc...I got me a label maker and I have enjoyed labeling all the different containers with what is in them...that really helps when looking for something...
I love the Quilting Board forum..first thing I read every morning...I don't post much but read everyday... |
Happy B'day to a fellow Leo! You sound SO excited. Have fun setting everything up. Great idea to label everything. Did you know that stuff seems to relocated on their own?
|
Thank you for sharing all your exciting and fun news!
I'm doing a reorganization project myself today, whew -- heavy hot work but almost done for the day. In another month I may even be able to find things again :) |
Don't you know that is the easiest way to permanently lose things, Iceblossom?

Congratulations on your new machine and chapter in your life!

Happy Birthday and congratulations on the new machine!!! It takes time to get settled in a new place but once you start sewing, things will find a place to be that is handy for you.

Sounds like a good life! You are so right about can't take the $$ with you. After a certain time saving money for the sake of saving it is worthless.

Happy birthday to you! Enjoy your new space and your new machine. You are an inspiration to me. Maybe by the time I reach your age (in just 6 years), I will be brave enough to pick a new machine, too!

Happy Birthday! You will love your new machine, it will take a little time to learn how to use all the features. You are very lucky to have a wing to live in at your daughter and her husbands home. That is really special and it shows how much you are loved.
|
I find it very joyful to read you this morning. A very Happy Birthday to you. You are so right. My husband had to ask me once why I saved $$$ all my life. When I answered that question I realised that I had reached "that" age. I am so happy for you for the decision you made to give yourself a very nice birthday gift! Enjoy!

Happy Birthday! What a perfect gift to yourself. Enjoy your new machine and living space.

Oh you will certainly enjoy your new machine! I wish i had one. mine is old. MC4800 I think. small throat space.
I'm somewhere North of you. just back in Texas a few years now. Traffic is terrible. I stay around here where it is safer to drive. Boring but safer. Enjoy that machine for me and all of us who envy you!!! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/hug.gif |

Happy Birthday. Your new space sounds great, new machine also.
|
Happy Birthday and Congratulations! Sounds like your new home is a dream! Enjoy your time in your “very organized” creative space and the companionship of family…
|
Happy Birthday to you! You sound so upbeat and cheerful. I surely do admire that. A new home, a new machine and you are genuinely excited - so refreshing. Lots of folks your age (that I know personally) kind of seem to have given up and don't get to excited about anything anymore. You are a breath of fresh air and so much fun to read your post. I sincerely wish you the best in your life in your new surroundings. Take care.

Happy Birthday & Enjoy!

Happy Birthday. I just turned 80. How nice that you can be so close to family and have a nice room for all your sewing. Sounds like you will be busy with all your projects. I have fabric and patterns of my mom's that I should work on. Have so many projects and ideas in mind, don't think I will ever finish them.

Thank you all for your wonderful and encouraging comments...as soon as I learn how to post pics of my new sewing room, my daughter will know how to do that..I will share the pics..I love my sewing room, I have lots of collective things, and it's all out for me to see...and enjoy..some may think it's overdone with things, but not for me..I think I have done well, fixing up a bedroom, bath and sewing room with things from my other home that had 11 rooms..had to let a lot of things go, but family took a lot..Goodwill has gotten some, and the new buyers of my home, bought several things that they wanted..so all in all I came out very well..
Happy Quilting everyone..... a little about my new machine...tried the automatic threader three times, still didn't thread the needle..got out my book, read it and tried again..finally silly me....the machine wasn't "ON" got a laugh out of that..and it threaded the needle just fine after it was on...laugh and learn..!!! |
Happy belated birthday and enjoy your new sewing machine!
