I bought a singer confidence about 2 years ago. I hate it! I'm trying to sell it.

Go to you local dealer in machines and maybe you could purchase a used machine in good condition, such as a Janome, Viking, Brother etc. Also some of those machines are not that high priced new. Even a Janome Gem Gold would do you until Christmas arrives. Good Luck

I owned one that was expensive and it never worked right for me. If you can afford something like a used or new Bernina I am pretty sure you would love it.

Check the manufacturing plate on the newer Machines. New ones are built by the Singer Co., not the Singer Manufacturing Co., as the old ones were built by. Two different Companies....

I bought the Singer Confidence Quilter to keep at my daughter's home out of state for when I visit. It works well for me. I keep it cleaned of dust; won't let anyone else touch it; and treat it as if it was a Bernina 440QE. It has served me well so far.

The newest one that I have seen is a retro style lightweight one which is numbered 160-for the 160th anniversary. Is that the one you refer to?

I have the Confidence,it was okay at first , but now it seems not to have a nice top stitch, I try all kinds of settings. Any suggestions out there????? Thank you.

Wouldn't waste the money on any Singer product produced after 1964. Had two bad ones after that and switched brands. If you want a Singer buy and old one. They are still working and will continue to be good machines for the rest of your lifetime. Ann in TN

my bobbin tension would not hold in mine. lots of trouble with tension, got to the point the store couldn't even adjust it so had to have a new bobbon holder and that didn't last long. only had mine almost 1 yr.

I have vowed never to buy another singer machine, I have found the quality of the machine not to be as good as the older models. Good luck with your Singer.
