The batting tape works well.

I try to sew big pieces together to make smaller quilts. Then the smaller pieces I save for teaching people stippling, or to make journal covers. I give those as gifts. THen I know someone who sews dog and cat beds for the animal shleters.

Thanks for this info. I had never heard of this product before either. I thought I would have to sew batts together and was concerned about a lump at the seam. THANKS!!!!

Sorry but what is batting tape? Not something I have seen for sale here in the UK but have several pieces of batting about 2 oe 3 foot wide and would like to use them.

I don't know either and I'm in Texas, USA. What I do with pieces of batting is lay them one on top of the other, use my rotary cutter to be sure I've got a good uniform edge and then zigzag them together. There is no evidence of the piecing after you get it quilted. What's more, it's kind of fun to do.

I've never done this for a big quilt, but wall hangings, purses, etc., haven't been any trouble. What's more, I know long armers who do this when they have an extra large quilt to do.

senior center by me collects all the little stuff and uses it to stuff pillows for the hospital pts.

They make the best dust rags, especially for electronics. And tonight I was putting my grandma's china in those quilted storage keepers & I used batting pieces between the plates instead of the silly plastic pieces they included.

Fran Juern 03-30-2011 08:20 PM

I usually just zigzag them togather. Works well

Keepsake Quilting has the same thing, but cheaper

I stitch the smaller pieces together and use them for wall or lap quilts.

Mary L Booth 03-31-2011 02:42 AM

You can use light weight fussible interfacing to fuss them together.

beksclen 03-31-2011 02:07 PM

When you zig zag the pieces together do you overlap at all or only butt together?

brushandthimble 03-31-2011 02:08 PM

I use the small pieces to dust, and they work great!

Eileen De Ville 03-31-2011 02:58 PM

Great. My kind of gal. In addition, I use flannel sheets for my doll quilts, table runners, place mats, etc. in place of batting...I have been recently using flannel for my foundations of strip piecing. I already had the sheets for winter use on for our bed, but my husband did not like the feel of them. So, don't toss out, try and find another use for them. This also saves using other batting.

You can do either. I butt them up but since I don't take the time to even out the edges of the pieces, I over-lap parts of the strip that are a little wider than the rest. You really can't see the seam
of the batting once it's sandwiched.

beksclen 03-31-2011 03:50 PM

Thanks. I was wondering about trying to get both edges to come out even. Overlap sounds good to me.
