New Use for an Old Mouse Pad (Quarter inch marker ????)
I was just reading some other posts for "repurposing" old mouse pads. The thought came to me that perhaps a cut piece from the mouse pad could be used to mark the quarter inch measurement on a sewing machine. Perhaps you could use double-sided tape to affix the piece to the machine to guide you while piecing. Maybe this would work better than layers of moleskin or sticky note paper. Just a thought!!!

If you have an old mouse pad, try it and see. Getting that accurate 1/4" seam is really important. My moleskin got messy and wouldn't stay in place, so I just use a piece of adhesive tape and mark the edge with a red pen. I also check my seams and re-do if not correct. The mouse pad idea sounds OK if you can get some really good double-stick to keep it in place.

A 1/4 foot really is easier and more reliable IMHO.

My thoughts of repurposing a mouse pad is to cover it and make it into a mug rug!

The 1/4 foot is the best but I find if you put your sticky notes or what ever you use, it directs the fabric into the correct line approaching the needle, then the 1/4 foot takes over

I just use the edge of the foot or the marks to the side of it. That is how we were taught in home ec. But, that was years ago. I say, if it works for you then do it.

I like both ideas of using it for 1/4" marker and making mug rug. Unfortunately mine won't work for either because it's shaped like Betty Boop's head (curls and all) - and she really is still cute, just a little worn.

I used 2 old mouse pads for a foot pedal pad. I glued the tops together, that way the foot pedal doesn't slide on the pad and the pad doesn't slide on the carpet.
