new use for zipper foot
I am making some snowball blocks and decided I want to use the corner pieces I would be chopping off. My zipper foot makes a perfect half inch seam if I use the left edge along my first stitch line and sew on the right edge of the foot. Then just cut between the 2 seams. Easy peasy!

Thanks for the info. I just LOVE things that do double/triple and more duty. I'm going to try this.
That's neat! I'll have to measure my Zipper foot!

Pulling out my zipper foot and checking it out right now!

Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to measure my zipper foot.
Outstanding idea! Love it when you can use one thing to do more than it was intended for.
Thanks for the tip!

Great idea to accumulate already sewn HST - and it doesn't actually have to be a perfect 1/2" either - close counts when it is sewn this way. A little on the skimpy side works fine when you don't have to move those little triangles through the needle path all by themselves.
How awesome is this - more multi-sewing gadgets we already all own! Thanks much for a wonderful tip.
wow-great tip-gonna have to try it
Will keep this in mind. I don't throw ANY fabric away. I use it all, SOME time!!
I used the zipper foot to do the half square blocks.
Checking mine too. Never thought it. Thanks for the info. New ways to do things easier is always a gift.

when I do that I pile them up and assembly line them together for small blocks and leave them strung together that way the color sets are together and I can clip off what I want . That way I don't have to go through looking for the same colors in the container I keep them in. I also found the big clear containers that they use for packaged pretzels at holloween are great for storing them and scraps.

Thanks for the tip. It's a great one! How will it work on flying geese? Better go find out.
CarrieC, don't you hate when work and errands demand time that should be used for quilting information and play?
Great idea! thanks!
Can't wait to try this one.
