Our local Walmart didn't bring back fabric either - but then they don't have alot of anything anymore. When i spoke to the manager, he said they "cut back" on alot of items. Our Walmart did carry pretty good fabric. Sure wish they would bring it back -

What to do if you need 4 yards in one piece? Or even 3 yards in one piece for borders or backing?

Local Quilt Shows, several are creating interesting backs, not as detail pieced, but not simply one piece or all the same fabric. Create a border within borders, or interesting corners using colors from the front rather than one long piece. As for borders or sashing, piece them, just not the same place around. I've seen beautiful boarders created that frame and are nearly nicer than the main center panel. Or create a little "spill over" of the focus design into the border where you have seams to hide them, and create interest to the border. Some flowers or leaves cut individually spilling into the borders... lightning bolt (race car or super hero child's), magic wand & crown (princess), matching diamonds or trailing flowing flying geese if that's the design in the quilt. OR, buy online, buy at JoAnns or quilt shops & pay for that full length section.

I heard from a Walmart employee that walmart is owned by chinese and they had the designer of Target redesign some of there stores to resemble targets. Does this make sense?

Where have you been girl????? It's been a year since this happened and now they are bringing fabric by the bolt back. It'll probably take awhile to reset things but it should happen.

I live in Omaha, Nebraska. Does anyone know of a WalMart here that still sells fabric from off the bolt. I would love to have the address. Thanks

They can stock it however they want but I won't be buying any precuts! If I like a fabric I will buy more than 2 yards and I don't want it in several pieces.

Walmart did away with bolts, cutting tables, etc. They now have them pre-cut in 2yd bundles on cardboard, hanging like socks on a fixture. It's a super large fixture, but nonetheless hanging like socks! There wasn't anything larger than the 2yd cuts. And that included fleece!

The cotton fabric does appear to be better quality than they used to have, and the price is $7.97 per 2yd pack.

So WM did indeed keep their word with returning fabrics into their new stores, but with a strange new twist.

The one near my daughter is like this. I wanted to find a clerk and ask, "Your kidding me, right?"

I have the feeling some "market surveying" has taken place...good for those of you who live in an area where lots of folks sew..my area not so much..

Along with quilting, I also sew my husbands shirts. For that and my borders cut lengthwise, I need my fabric in a single cut of fabric- not pieced. For this reason, I quit purchasing fabric from WM when they took out the bolts. Even their FQ are overpriced for the quality- in my opinion.
