I was just on Ebay drooling and buying myself "that purple thang" when I saw the following:
Warm and Safe Batting Fire Retardant Batting from The Warm Co. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Environmentally Friendly Feels Silky Soft The Warm Company has selected a remarkable patented fiber that is manufactured in a GREEN facility for Warm & Safe. This revolutionary fiber is made from sustainable, quick growing plantation trees (not competing with food supplies). The Warm Company processes the fiber with state of the art needle-punch technology without resins or glues giving Warm & Safe the trademark softness along with all of the attributes quilters expect from Warm Company batting. Naturally Fire Retardant for Peace of Mind Warm & Safe is inherently and permanently fire retardant. By design, the fiber has a high silica content making the fire retardant properties built in from the start. Warm & Safe will not melt, flow or emit toxic gases when exposed to heat and flame. Because the fire retardant is locked into the fiber, the batting remains non-toxic, non-allergenic, and, well - Warm & Safe! |
What a great find!! :D :D
|
Especially nice when using it for people who are clumsy!

I wonder if it would dull needles fast - silica is basically sand. Up home, we has a plant called horsetails that you could use to clean pots and pans with because the silica in it worked like Comet or Ajax- abrasives.

I've ordered a crib size for an Irish chain that I'm going to try. I'll let you know how it sews up.
|
Can't wait to hear the results! If it works well it will be great for babies, toddlers and kids!! Not to mention great for pot holders...I may not be able to wait for the results, I may have to go ahead and try it for myself!! Thanks for the info!!
