Mo_Chride - what a lovely place to hang out :)

Thank you Mo. I did a small octagon EPP and then added it to a quilt I gave to my ex-husband's grandmother. His parents now have it. I'm hoping my daughter will eventually inherit it. If you do decide to do it please post pics. This is where I got my book: http://lindafranz.com/product.php?productId=31 My friend has a 1/2 inch hexagon EPP quilt its beautiful too. I was going to try to do one too. Please update pics as your EPP grows.

I buy my pieces from here: http://www.paperpieces.com/contents/en-us/d17.html

Funny stuff thanks for the laughs.

I'll second this. My very first attempt at quilting I tried a double wedding ring. I bought the little plastic template set and went to work....it's still sitting in a box in the closet. I didn't attempt quilting again for about 5 years, then it was something simple.

But if money is no problem, you can spend as much as you have. And then a little more because you found this really useful ruler that will be good for this one pattern you saw. And hey, this pattern looks cool.

Lovely quilts ube quilting. The peacock would lend itself to a "real" pieced quilt interpretation. Can you imagine it?

Go for it!
peace :D

Rie, I have bookmarked that site for the new year when I should be ready for another EPP pattern. I am loving doing the EPP by hand and moving along on it. I did a foundation piecing class a few weeks before I started my GFG and while I did one placemat in class, I haven't done the other three while I have moved steadily along on my GFG. While I hope to give my GFG to my brother for Christmas, I also hope to give the placemats to my MIL for Christmas. We'll see which gets done first! LOL

And Mal, this is a wonderful site. I have learned so much already and love reading posts although I don't seem to have time to post very often alot of the time with two young children. Gotta love 'em but quite the handful some days. Eighteen hours of daylight at this time of year here but we aren't getting the heat wave most of North America is getting. We have rain, rain and more rain with cold winds. We don't have AC and while many years there is about two weeks that I wish we had it, the last two summers I haven't really noticed its absence at all. *sigh* Now, the snow over the height of my van and months of -40C I noticed!

I made a queen size for my niece's wedding and it cost $220 for material, batting, and backing. It was a beautiful quilt.

On that point it makes it hard to say what the cost will be.
it usually depends on Qualityof fabric you choose.
Hope this helps you;

Margaret Main - what a nice surprise to find someone on this American board who lives in the same little town here in Australia. You wouldn't read about would you.

I know the shops you are referring to.

Do you go to either of the Tuesday groups. One at the Basket Ball Stadium (MultiPurpose Centre) and the other in the motel in Cumberland Street?

Maybe we will meet up sooner or later.

Happy Quilting.
