Enjoyed reading all these posts. I will add that when I (finally!) got into quilting, I took beginning quilters classes at my LQS. The book our instructor used was Start Quilting With Alex Anderson....simple instructions and fun!

Bellaboo is very correct about the advise. I learn this. Every time I make a quilt, I learn something new.

Learn lots of ways and do what you are most comfortable with.
The only time you HAVE to follow rules is if you are entering a juried competition.
The only rule I follow is keep learning, trying, sharing, and loving it!
