Hello
My name is Mary. I have been quilting now for about six years and love it. I live in Hamilton, New Zealand. For those of you who don't know, Hamilton is in the North Island. It is about an hour and a half drive south of Auckland. I saw a comment about joining a guild and would like to make a comment. I am on the committee of the Waikato Patchworkers and Quilters Guild. It has always had a reputation of running their meetings to a high standard. When I first joined the guild I loved the way they ran their meetings. Always had interesting speakers, a merchant table, block of the month, ran classes, met like minded people who had the same passion as me. Being on the committee has given me a greater insite and more opporatunity to learn more and met many interesting people. We allow prospective members to have two free visits and then decide on membership. We also try very hard to have a committee member available to these people to explain what we do. I hope this helps |

Welcome from Ohio, USA. Hope you enjoy the board. Caution it can be addicting, causing you to lose quilting time. But really a great place to meet other quilters and get info.

Welcome from Renton, Washington. My cousins wife is from Selma. Her maiden name was Caroline (better make sure you say ir right! Care-oh-line!) Hedgepeth. My sister dated a real hunk named Pepe Rohdes (think I spelled it right) who was also from Selma. His father was from Spain and he had the most georgeous green eyes! He played the saxaphone for Auburn University's marching band. Can you tell he made an impression on my young little heart? LOL!

Hi and welcome to the board from Iowa.
|
Thank you for your welcome. Where exactly is Alabama in USA?
|
Welcome to the board - such a nice group of quilters.
Your guild sounds interesting - too bad you're so far away! |
Hi Mary and welcome, waving to you from NE Ohio.
|
Welcome from Texas. I like the sound of your guild. Someone else mentioned a welcoming committee. Boy, my guild sure needs one. I've been a member for two years, and am even librarian, but I still feel like an outsider. My own fault, probably, as I am a bit shy and am fairly new to quilting.

The two meeting trial seems a very good idea. The post to which you refer is possibly: Quilt Guild Question #2. If you click on "Search" above and type in Quilt Guild Question #2 it will take you there and you can comment directly where the poster will see your reply.
Welcome from Wild, Wonderful West Virginia. |
I can see as a New Zealander that I am really outnumbered living on the other side of the world. Thank heavens for electronic communication.
I love the picture of your Singer Sewing Machine. My mother had one. Do you use it? |
Thumberlina
What is the temperature over there at present. Of course we are in winter but I can smell Spring in the air. |

It always surprising me how many people are feeling exactly the same as you. I am a shy person too but bite the bullet. My opening lines usually are to find out what quilting project a person is working on. It usually flows from there. Try it and let me know what happens. |

Your picture- is that what West Virginia looks like in the Autumn? |
