Next Project

Does anyone else start thinking about their next project as they come to the end of the current one? When I get towards the end, my mind seems to just start thinking about what I can do next. I'm getting to the point of sandwiching and starting to quilt my king size quilt (I'm doing Marti Mitchell's quilting in sections) and I have already decided to make some bags for my custom purses my husband got me to go with my show car. Then I'm thinking about doing a paper pieced quilt from the book "Raining Cats and Dogs" with the dachshunds on it to help use up some scraps. Keep in mind that I work full time so it might be several months before I get to start the dog quilt. Am I the only one whose mind works this way? (It would not surprise me if I was :D)

Of course we are always planning ahead. I have my next 3 quilts already decided. But I have 4 formals (wedding dresses) to make before I start them.

Wow, Marian, you really do plan ahead! Maybe when I'm not working full time I'll be able to do that, too. Right now, with my spring car shows getting ready to start and my quilting time limited my small plans probably won't get done until June.

Mom! My gosh you WAIT until you are almost done to pick out another project? I have about 1400 saved on to my Pinterest wall that I just "have" to do!

Good job on the holding back!!!
LOL

Yep...and that is why I have such a big UFO pile. Unlike you, I don't finish before I start the next project :) I am working on a Valentine quilt that I started in 2015 and I think I will have the top done by Feb 14th. So happy!

I"m afraid i'm guilty too of doing that. now i must tell myself i will finish this and then go to that, etc.

When I think I have too many quilts planned, I remind myself of my cousin. She has 79 quilts planned, with the fabric already purchased. I only have 6 quilts planned, including the 2 in process. (Well, there is one more that is finished but not labeled.) 4 of the 6 are baby/child quilts, which are small and don't take very long to make.

79...really. Compared to my cousin, I bet you hardly have any planned, either.

I have fabric picked out and placed in tubs along with the pattern for at least 3 more quilts at any given time, other that the one(s) I'm working on. And usually a few more wandering around inside my head.

I only have two, maybe three projects planned ahead, but I'm a bit weird, I find it very stressful to make multiple things at once. I have the next thing planned often but I can't start it till my last one is bound, washed, and gifted.
