Progress update on the baby quilt:
The center is done and the wider piano key border pieced. Last night I attached the inner border--2" of pink to the 4 sides of the center, leaving each edge unsewn 1/4" from each corner. Plenty of extra border fabric hanging off each end. Does that make sense? Now I am reading up on how to finish these corners! Would love to hear your favorite techniques, advice. I'm reading up on every tutorial I can find! |
Pittsburgh Pam made us a tutorial on mitred borders, you can find it here in the Tutorial section :D:D:D

I have that one bookmarked, Amma. Very clear instructions. I'm thinking that maybe I should try to sew the corners by hand...maybe I'll be able to stay more precisely on the "line."

This is the link to PittsburgPam's post. It is just so easy. Good luck. |
I fold and glue the miter then sew it. I've tried every method and this is the easiest way for me.

I just read something about glue this morning, BellaBoo. I think it was in regards to binding. Maybe you had posted it? I'm going to have to look up the glue method. Is that in place of the pins in Pittsburgh Pam's tutorial?

I use Pam's method every time and I always have an almost perfect mitered corner! The hotter your iron, the better it works! Here's a picture of the last mitered corner I did using her tutorial.

Leslie, I loooove your quilt!! I am sure I commented. Just gorgeous. I'm getting home late, so won't tackle the miters tonight. I've learned my lesson about launching into sewing when too tired!
