No Longer a Fitted Flannel Sheet

I have a dark green queen flannel sheet set that the fitted sheet is no longer fitted. The elastic has seen better days and slips up over the mattress. Any ideas of what I could use it for. I really don't want to just pitch it...I just feel it has some value. Could I cut it up and use it ......???

If it still looks nice you could use it to back a quilt or perhaps be the center layer of a rag quilt

Since the fitted sheet is part of a set, what about replacing the elastic so I can be used as a fitted sheet again. Just a thought.

Putting a casing and running new elastic in was my first thought. I have seen some fitted sheets with elastic all the way around, but I would probably just do the ends. There are some other things that will hold the corners around the ends like https://www.amazon.com/slp/sheet-gar...vwedwt5dv338hd

I have purchased the sheet garters at Wal Mart & Bed,Bath & Beyond. I have used them for years to keep the corners where they belong.

I would run new elastic and still use as a sheet.

That's what I did, ran new elastic through it. Nothing else wrong with the sheets, they don't even look the slightest bit worn.

I was lazier that that - I used the garter things they sell because I already had them. Those folks old enough to have worn nylons with garter belts know what I am referring to. I got them originally because I had a set of sheets and the fitted sheet was a tad small and always coming out - so I found the metal garters (with the elastic) and hooked them on and worked just fine. I bought some made with plastic garters and they were worthless.

I'd simply replace the elastic so that the set remains usable.

If you feel like replacing the ends that's fine if not and you want to just cut it up into usable quilt blocks that's great too. Check to be sure it is 100% cotton if using it with other flannels. Great for rugs or rag quilts too. Me I would/have cut them down and used with other flannels for rag quilt.
