Non-Gummy Applique Fusible Web Question
I found that Steam and Seam 2 is very gummy. I want to hand applique raw edges without getting a gummy needle. Any suggestions? Thanks! |
Usually a fusible is used for machine appliqué. You might have some luck rubbing a little Thread Heaven on your thread and needle? Are you doing needle turn or a hand blanket stitch?

Our favorite at the shop is Softfuse. It's very thin and dry, not tacky.
Also, there's a non-stick needle by Schmetz that may help with using the fusible that you are using. |
Misty Fuse will hold it while you to the handsewing. Also, you could put a dap of washable school glue stick on the applique to hold in place while you do the hand sewing.

I use Steam a Seam Lite 2 all the time and never get a gummy needle. Maybe we are in different climates.

That might be the problem! I was following a pattern that called for machine applique but wanted to do a blanket stitch by hand. Thanks!
