Check out Quilt in a Days book Radiant Star Quilts.
Its made with strips.
Havnt done one yet but I trust El Burns patterns to be the easiest to follow.
No templates needed.

Are you familiar with Quiltsmart? It's a line of printed fusible interfacing which has a Mariner's Compass, amoung other patterns. Very, very easy and quick. Have done this pattern, their dahlia and their Lone Star - all are template free and make for nice sharp intersections. Check out http://www.quiltsmart.com/khxc/index...arinerscompass

One of my first quilts was a Mariner's Compass. 15 years later, I wouldn't even want to try to do one without the paper. Every seam is a bias edge. Do you hate paper piecing that much??

It's not so much that I hate it, per se....I can't wrap my brain around the reversal thing. PP makes no sense to my brain even after 2 classes taught by two people with very different styles.....frustrating since I'm well educated but if the brain can't get it, I just can't do it.....

Thank you! I truly believed I am a mental defective because I can't PP. It was an exercise in frustration and futility, ending with me reduced to tears. I swore never again; so far, I have kept the promise.
