non skid foot pedal

Got this stuff from my daughter but it came from Walmart. I assume it is for lining shelves. Set my foot pedal on it and it has not moved since. My foot pedal is quite large but this works like a dream. Trying to attach a picture but not seeming to work.

I have that stuff somewhere - will need to find it and try it.

Cari-in-Oly 09-07-2014 07:28 PM

That is good stuff, I use it for a lot of things. You can even get it at the dollar store.

I have a carpet on the floor where I sew and that didn't work. I'm really glad it works for you!

I even use a couple of hand size pieces to control my quilt when FMQ. this stuff really has multi uses. Next best thing to Duct Tape. LOL

I also have carpet so maybe just lucky but sure was a blessing for me. So tired of my pedal sliding.

That stuff can be cut into small pieces that can go under a ruler to hold it firm while cutting. One of the quilt magazines showed it in red cut into hearts for this purpose last winter.

i also use that stuff i ordered a foot pedal pad before i bought some of this stuff. the
foot pedal pad i threw a way it did not work.

My sewing rm floor is laminate---does not work for me. But I found a clear shower mat at Wallyworld that has big bubbles (helps it grip the tub) for $1. Under my sewing desk & it works for my pedal.

It is also very good under the sewing machine if not in a hole or using it at class. Hand size pieces fit on hands great for freemotion control. Under foot pedal need a flat surface some carpets too fluffy

It can also be found in the car area as it is very good on the dashboard of a car to stop items rolling off.

I have a rug under my sewing table, so I put a strip of the hook side of some stick-on velcro on the bottom of my foot pedal. That pedal doesn't move one bit!

tessagin 09-08-2014 05:31 AM

I use the non-skid shelf lining under my rulers so they don't slip when cutting material. I just use a strip horizontally, just enough about a 6x1 1/2" strip. I put the strip where I would place my hand to hold the ruler between the ruler and the fabric. Usually can get a roll of 2 yards for a buck or 2. It's also great for placing under meat/cutting boards on your counter tops so the boards don't slide. Especially, the ones kids sell for school fundraisers, the really thin ones.

For a typical size foot pedal, slipping a used mouse pad under it will keep it from traveling also.

ManiacQuilter2 09-08-2014 08:45 AM

Yes, I have been using it for about a month now when someone else posted the info.

I also have laminate and found that stuff works for awhile and then wads up and is more annoying than having nothing. I'll try the bath mat.

StetsonsStitches 09-09-2014 03:14 AM

I even have it under my sewing machine and base for my iron. I even have some in my sewing machine travel bag for when I go to a class.

That has been my experience also. I think I will try the bath mat or a mouse pad.

celwood 09-09-2014 03:31 AM

I also use it under my machines; it helps keep them in place

Texas_Sue 09-09-2014 03:32 AM

The rubberized shelf lining is great to cut a small piece and place it under your ruler. The ruler will not slip while you are cutting. You can get a whole roll at the $dollar store.

That's a good idea too. I just read a hint of another way to keep that pesky thing still. Just take a wide rubber band (or 2) and wrap it around the pedal. Sounds too simple, but it works.

It didn't work for me on my carpet either.
:(

Vintagesewist 09-09-2014 05:20 AM

There are lots of different kinds of this non slip "stuff". If one type doesn't work, try another one. Some seem more "sticky" than others. It even comes in colors. I have a bright yellow one. I love this so much I bought a really huge piece from Amazon. It is under throw rugs, small pieces in the kitchen for under cutting boards, opening jars, under cloth table covers and under my foot pedals. I'm probably forgetting other areas that I use it for.

I use the hook side of hook and loop tape if you have carpet. Get the sticky kind, works great for me.

dcamarote 09-09-2014 06:03 AM

Great idea. Thanks so much. Mine moves all over the place.

MargeD 09-09-2014 08:45 AM

I have that shelf lining material and it works well to keep my foot pedal under control, even on carpeting.

dltaylor 09-09-2014 09:43 AM

Yep, that's what I use under mine also, works great!! You can get it at discount stores too, I think it is used to stop rugs from moving on the floors.

I just got big piece of Velcro, and used the scratchy or hook part, attached it to the bottom of the foot-feed and it never moves!

Rubesgirl 09-09-2014 08:00 PM

Velcro has worked for me for years. I stuck it on the bottom of the pedals for both of my machines and neither of them slip on the carpeting. Great stuff!

Try using a good size piece of the loop portion of velcro. Works great for me.
