Non slip surface for the back of rulers
 

I don't think I dreamed it, but I'm beginning to question it. It seems like there was a discussion a couple of weeks back regarding some kind of surface you could apply to the back of your rulers to keep them from sliding. From what I remember, it came on a roll and it covered the entire back of the ruler. Someone said it came from JoAnn's as they used a coupon for it. I tried all kinds of searches on here, but have had no luck finding the thread.

I've been to JoAnn's and my local quilt shop, but had no luck there either. No one has heard of it. My LQS said she would look at market for it, though.

Can anyone help?

This is what I use too. I don't cover the whole ruler, a few strips will work. My rulers do not slip at all.

Invisgrip has been on the market for years. A quilt shop not knowing about it would put me off.

There's also a spray for making your rulers non slip. I have it but I'm not at home to see the name of it. You just need a very light coat and it lasts for a long time.

Doesn't the Nexcare leave a sticky residue?

I saw the same type hint on Love of Quilting, in the tips section at the end of the show, but they did not say the name of the product. Said it was found at the hardware store. Not sure if it is the same spray, it may be packaged differently for quilters, but would love to find out the name.

I use the Invisigrip if necessary. sort of like cling wrap. works fine.

Invisigrip and several other things I tried did not work for me. What works best for me is the Guidlines4quilting strips that joe'smom mentioned. Here is a link to them on Amazon:

I also highly recommend the Slidelock rulers. These have grippers on the bottom that appear only when you are ready to cut (so you can easily re-position the ruler until it is exactly where you want it). Aside from gripping the fabric or the ruler (I also often use the Slidelock on top of another ruler), the Slidelock keeps my hand and fingers well away from the rotary cutter blade. Well worth the money for me! Here is a link to the Slidelock:

Edit: I never tried the spray. When I tried the Invisigrip, my rulers still slid too much.
