I am not sure what it is called or I would search it. I watched a tute on paper piecing(I still don't get it!) and she had a ruler that ad a step at 1/4", I would like to get one even if just for marking my seam allowance, but as I said I don't know it's name or where to get it.
Also as long as Iam typing has anybody used it? is it helpful?
Thank you!
David

David, please thry again as I don't understand your question, do you want to know what the ruler is called?

grammyp 01-19-2011 07:46 AM

It is called an "Add a 1/4" ruler, and I love mine. I also have an "Add a 1/8" for my mini quilts.

Are you talking about the add a quarter-inch ruler? I think this is what it's called. And I know many professional quilters recommend it for PP, but I just use my long ruler, it has a very clear quarter-inch markings, and I don't have a problem using it.

I hope this helps you.

It's called Add-a-Quarter ruler and yes it is very helpful when paper piecing.

Strangly enough it is called an "add a quarter" ruler. I do a lot of PP and have never seen the need for this gadget. Others swear by it.

Here is just one of the thousands of hits I got when googling it.

Yes, I have both the add-a-quarter and the add-an-eighth (for minature quilts). They are really useful!

I just found one at a fabric store yesterday, finally! I've looked forever and never found one. It is called Add-A-Quarter and I also got the Add-An-Eighth. The address on the packaging is CM Designs, 7968 Kelty Trail, Franktown, Colorado 80116, (303)841-5920...no website on the package. It's the lip that makes it earier to use than the regular ruler.

I have done pping and I have just used my good old trusty regular ruler for trimming. I would recomend getting one of Carol Doaks books from the library. especially one with a cd in it. This will show you how to pp the really really really easy way. I would do one block pp'ed with a regular ruler as long as you can see a 1/4" mark on it really well. if you have a small thin ruler like a 2 1/2x 6 1/2" that would do the trick to start with. but any ruler would work. ask for an internet video I don't know of any. I just used the CD from Carol Doaks book on PPing stars. Good luck and post your finished block.
