I received the new Clothtide catalogue yesterday and noticed pages of quilting notions....that got me to thinking about which gadgets I really need - as they all look tempting. So I'm posing the question: which quilting notion/tool could you not live without?
(I saw another thread that discussed which ones you don't need). Thanks :) |
Rotary cutters and mats are the things that I absolutely have to have. Others are just fun things to have.

Add rulers to that one

I don't know if it's a must to everyone, but I surely do use a stiletto alot. If $$ is an issue I've heard of using a wooden skewer.

Rotary cutter, mat & ruler - those count as only one, right? :)
Walking and darning feet - I might be able to live without the walking foot, but I'd have to take up cussin' again. And I've tried fmq without the darning foot and it's darn difficult. I really like the Sew Slip mat, although I guess ordinary vinyl like you buy on the roll at Walmart is supposed to be just as good. My ugly purple rubber-spandex gloves with the missing thumbs and forefingers. Magic Genie Bobbin Washers - these things clear up so many little problems on the backs of my quilts. Mary Ellen's Best Press - I would keep this around for the fragrances alone! :) |
Seam Ripper is a must for me. Wish I didn't need it

Rulers, rotary cutter and blades, cutting mats, I could not live without. I can't forget my best friend, seam ripper. Can't forget the walking foot and darning foot.

Kwik Klip. Tool for closing pins when pinning a quilt. My fingernails can't take the trauma of closing all the pins.
