Ours is pretty good, but then again, ours never went completely away. The fabric selection is fairly broad, cottons for quilting, blends for garment making, fleece, and upholstery. You do have to pay attention to the hand of the fabric, some is wonderful (and nicely priced), some not so good. I'm just so thankful that it is still around, for the notions if nothing else. The next closest place with buttons, zippers, etc., is 40 miles away.

Walmart in Easton PA wasn't bad got some nice fabric, Walmart in Archdale, NC had no fabric department as of last week. Walmart Concord NC has a dept. but not to big. And walmart in other part of Concord had no fabric. Really didn't get a chance to look at fabric while there.

There is one wall of sewing machines, one of notions, a gondola of clearance fabric and a short aisle with batting, fleece, some quilting cottons and a few apparel fabrics.

They never did get the pre-cuts and bundles that some of the other stores got - the employees keep telling me that the new fabric department is going to be bigger.

Last time I was in our not so local store, looks like they were making a wider area. Moved it to the corner. Had mostly fabric they had before. (Mostly children's) and solid. They did add some nice fat quarters, at the time selling cheap. Have always had their cutting table and someone to cut. Condensed quite considerably. The woman that man's the area, told me, they were suppose to have fabric on the whole back wall where yarn is, and out front, small tables in the aisle. I don't go there very often since I live almost an hours drive one way. I happen to be going that way later on this month, so will check out the progress. Woman said end of year, early spring. Oh, there is a lot of flannel

Our local WM has an okay selection. Have bought some there because the prices were so much more reasonable than the local but fabulous qs. Also I hand dye most of the time and JoAnns carries the muslin brand I use.

It is very nice to have various stores to go to. Before I lived in the country (as in "turn off the paved road, go two miles, turn at the mail box and the house is a fourth mile down the road"). I had to take whatever the one store in town had, which is why I started hand dyeing. Would go into the bigger city every couple of weeks for supplies, including quilting. Loved being in the country but love where I am just as much for other reasons.

My Walmart never lost the fabrics, was suppose to get bigger, but that hasn't happened yet. Got some of the prefolds in but best I can tell no one is buying them.

My local Wal-Mart started carrying fabric which they've never done before. I'm thrilled!

Both of my local Wal-Marts have fabric, but they still have the same problem that they always had: No one to to work the department. Everytime that I try to buy fabric from Wal-Mart, I have to find someone to cut the fabric. I do not like dealing with someone who works in Sporting Goods or Electronics. In fact I hate Wal-Mart. If you see me in Wal-Mart, I am on mission. I do not stay any longer than I have to.

I usuall buy something from the fabric dept. when I shop at Walmart. I just can't resist.
