Okay. I have a quilt top that I am making for a twin bed. only the quilt is turning out more square than rectangular. how do I make it more rectangular without looking odd?
I have one more corner block to finish and the center block I have to re-due to the right size It is going to be about 20-24" hopefully. I just wanted to give you guys and idea of what i have so far. Between the corner squares are going to be the hunter star pattern. this is going to be for my ds he just turned a year an I am making it twin for when he moves to a big boy bed. Wider sashing on the top and bottom ? Where the sides might be say 3 inches make top and bottom 6 , just try to keep it in proportion

Those blocks are stunning!! :D

so do you think a row of hunters stars on the top and bottom would be okay then?
|

when completed, will there be the same number of blocks up and down as there across?
there should be one more up and down than there are across. the extra length should be added to the center. either above and below the central motif, meaning one-half block above and one-half block below, or another full block. imo, the half blocks above and below would be very dramatic. maybe something like a rising sun. the bottom one of which would be upside down, or some other arched design, like a new york beauty. what you design for the space is up to you. the two halves together add up to that extra block to equal the that extra side block. that means that the center row will be one full block then /2 block, then a full block, then 1/2 block, then a full block. except for the top and bottom blocks the other will not line up with the other side blocks. your full center block will be in the center of the quilt lined up between the two center side blocks. that will be the drama. that allows you to add a border that's even all the way around and not look "added on". i hope you understand that babble. anyway, that's what i think. what you already have is terrific. perfect for a big boy. lovely drawing, yes? thats going to be a beautiful quilt
