Not really office supplies, but the hard case eye glass holders are great for small scissors, a seam ripper, some clips, and Chapstick (which BTW I use when threading needles! A little Chapstick on the end of the thread gives it a little stability and holds the fibers together. So easy to thread the needle then). Happy quilting!

next to my sewing machine to hold the manual for quick reference, together with other items that I reference regularly (how to finish the binding, etc.). I also stuck a few pieces of cork board on the wall by my machine to pin patterns and/or notes to. :-) |
(About using a transparent clipboard as mentioned previously.) -I just lean it against a lamp - works great for small projects - you can clip the pattern and the fabric or whatever together. I have a desk lamp that works for me to lean the clipboard against - had to experiment a bit.

I recently picked up some washable Crayola markers. You have to run the quilt through the wash machine to erase the markings, but for your own projects that's usually okay.

My husband had a tool bag with different size pockets and one of his 25 foot retractable metal tape measures. I took it to hold my scissors, pinking shears, exacto knife, seam rippers, tape measurer rotary blades and rotary cutters in. The tape measure is great to measure quilts with for borders. Plus the numbers are bigger and much easier to read.

I keep a dime in my cleaning and supply box for my cs6000i to remove the screws that I can’t get to even with my little screwdriver. Works great and usually end up sharing it with other ladies at retreats who are struggling with those small harps and need to change needles or clean their machines. Shared it so much I now keep more than one dime in my box.

Just to clarify. If you Google search for the pens. It's FriXion pens. After looking them up myself, looks like they will be in my studio soon. Like that they are fine point.

Just a note about the frixion pens & the washable markers.... it is always a good idea to test first. I have had issues with some colors. Mostly red & orange. And mostly on unwashed fabric (precuts) with the sizing still in there. I bought a package of S hooks, & a cute towel rack to hang up all my rulers. This led to a matching pair of curtain rods & several small dollar store pails hung from more S hooks. And then I had to have one of those multi-pocketed shoe holders made to hang in the closet. It's hanging from more S hooks to hold lots of small goodies. |
