Some, but not all, states have an official quilt block. A couple of years ago I found this site which contains lists of the states with their official symbols. for example - Alabama doesn't have an official state block, but it does have an official quilt. If you go to cultural symbols, you can get more information. Or click on the name of each state to review the symbols/items that have been voted as the "official" item for the state.

Now you got me thinking; any state bird or state flower quilt blocks?

This one has nothing about pictures of blocks and no patterns. Looks like site is defunct for when you click on each block it gives a blank page or no longer there.

I've never seen that pattern for Indiana before. What I've seen is a block that is also called "Indian" something. The OHIO block is NOT what most of us know as Ohio star. And the West Virgiania block has no resemblence to the WV I did in cross stitch

If anyone is interested, Faye Labanaris did a beautiful book on State Flowers for the Applique lover, called State Flowers to Applique.I think. Can not put my hands on it at the moment.

I came across this book on eBay UK just this morning! I looked on Amazon US and it's out of print, but there were other State quilting books listed underneath. Good luck!

There was a pattern published by McCalls called 'Covering America' a couple of years ago that has blocks for each state - they aren't all stars, and they don't correspond to the one that rebeljane posted above but might give you some more ideas if you are planning a project. I'm working on this one at the moment (done half of the blocks) and am really enjoying the variations between each block.
