Would it hurt the machine to turn it on it's side to rattle the screw loose ? Or turn it upside down and shake it out. Good Luck !

Look and see if you can take some screws out and see inside your machine, I did that to a BLQP, took it apart and got the screw out.

I hope you can shake it out. The same thing happened to me while I was at a retreat. I also have a 6600. I thought it would be okay to sew but it made a terrible sound. Sorry to say I had to take it to the repair man. Here's hoping you won't have to.

I have a little screwdriver that looks like an ink pen. The end that would be the clicker on an ink pen is actually a magnet. Dance it around in there and see what comes out! LOL

I had that happen to me with my Janome too. I am sorry your dealer is so far away, because that is what I did, took it to him and he got it out. Now I take those little screws and put them in a safe place while cleaning that area. I hope the suggestion of tipping it to the left on a sheet works for you.

My strait stitch with the primitive threading and the under machine bobbin with case is a nightmare.

Can you lift the machine? If not ask someone to help you and turn it upside down and see if the screw drops out.

The 6600 weighs approx 25 lbs, so to lift and shake out the screw is a pain. It might be easier to take off the base (bottom box) off the machine.

The paint chipping unfortunately is one of the downsides of Janomes. My 6500 has them and on other boards it has been commented on. So I would not put all the blame on your acrylic table.

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions!!! I went to bed last night and actually dreamt about it all night. I was going to use a magnet but hubby insisted that would be a bad idea because of the electronics.
also he figured it would be cheaper to have the repair man get the screw out then to replace electronics. I got brave and we took the bottom off and got the screw out. Thankfully it had just dropped all the way down and hadn't gotten hung up on anything.

Needless to say I have learned a valuable lesson. When removing the stitch plate don't put the loose screws on the bed of te machine! I guess I really do gave a screw loose! lol!

So glad you had a happy ending! Now you know what to do if it ever happens again (but it won't right?). :eek:
