I just throw it together, when you mix it all up if you see you need more liquid just add some more milk, simple things are the best....bake 350 for 45 min or an hour depending on your oven. I always line the pan with parchment paper. ok back to fun stuff, I have totally cleaned and organized my private room lol. |
That's a great way to cook, use up that stuff that ends up just sitting around taking up space. :)

They would make beautiful dresden quilt blocks! It's my favorite block.

You have some very nice squares. How about Disappearing 9 Patch.

I decided I really like that cream star in the middle of all that color. I took the first tester apart and was able to save all the flower swatches. Here are four blocks, they finish at 13.5. I am just sorry that they are not cut precisely. That is one of the reason I really don't buy this way. I would have re-cut them but then I would loose a lot. Well, anyway, as I finish a block and if it's off a bit, I just add a scrap to that side and it will all come out in the wash lol.
Now here is what is happening. Remember when I just had the squares on the board and they looked so good? Well I haven't lost that effect. When four blocks meet, it make a four patch and where the star point meet, two of the other fabrics come together. The star seems to have a different look depending which fabric surrounds it. I like all this and to think that this was just another diversion lol. I will make a few more blocks today, light and dark and see how they look with just the darks together and maybe I can have another arrangement. |
disappearing 9 patch with white center square.

I'm currently working on this one using el gallo reds & blacks with a white background. It's pretty cute!

I played around with the blocks a little and put them on point and got a whole different effect. then I made a bow tie and set in on one of the blocks...just playing.
|
I could see either very narrow white or black sashing between to create either an on point lattice look or a stained glass look.
|
good idea Mom, still have lot more to do and I will keep playing lol

Ok, I am finished with the squares so far. I made some star blocks and then some bow ties. I ended up with a long 80 x54 quilt. First I sewed two star block together so I could sew 3 bow ties to that side, as the bow ties are four patch and the stars are 9 patch. I didn't like the effect as all the stars looked kind of stiff just there in the middle....but when I looked at how much I would have to rip? I decided to heck with it lol.
So then I started making more bow ties. ...didn't want to make anymore stars. I add two more patches to the bow ties and put a row of these plus just a four patch between each bow tie. I sewed those strips along both side of the quilt and this is what it looks like. It ended up 81x81, a good size. I can see all the color squares and they are in bow ties and stars. Instead of just plain squares. |
