So happy to find this site! Looking forward to chatting with other enthusiasts.
Also, hope to find some help with finding pattern for 'Ohio Rose' quilt. Alas, I had unfinished quilt, which an aunt had started and I hoped to finish someday. The aunt was killed at age 16 in an auto accident, along with her sister, aged 18. My mother had the quilt and she was not an avid seamstress, crafter or quilter. I inherited that from paternal grandmother. So mother gave me the quilt. Unfortunately, when I was moving, one of the movers thought I had too many keepsakes and threw away the chest which contained the quilt. I've been looking for the pattern ever since, to replace the quilt. Hoping I can find it here. Thanks for any effort helping with this. Leigh |

Welcome from Virginia
shame on those movers, what if that had happend to them? That is not right, they are paid to move EVERYTHING you ask them to. |
Hi and welcome from the sunny state of Florida!!
I'd be heartbroken if movers had taken it upon themselves to throw some of my items away. |
Welcome from North Central PA. So glad you joined us. I am sorry to hear that some uncaring mover did such a thing with your belongings. Hope someone on the board can help you find the pattern.

Oh Dear, Thank you all so much for the nice welcome. And QBee thanks for finding the pattern. The rose looks very much like it, but not the configuration. I did find another pattern in a quilting book that had the configuration, but not the flower; it was Dogwood pattern. I'm thinking after seeing the Ohio Rose pattern on line, that perhaps Auntie combined the two, placing the Ohio Rose on the branches, though in soft green, used in Dogwood. And also added rose leaves. I'll do some drawing combining the two and see if that works.
Interesting that all the replies come from the East, but not surprising. As a displaced Buckeye from NE Ohio, I know the Ohio rose grows wild, and is not like a typical rose bush as is often thought of when we think rose bush. Another passion is genealogy. Most of my maternal lines are ended up in Central PA; Elk, Cameron, Centre, Jefferson, after landing early in eastern counties. Thanks again - so nice to have friendly welcome. Leigh |
Hi Leigh! Welcome from Minnesota!

I'm sorry it wasn't the exact pattern but I bet you are correct...I bet it was a combination. I don't think my grandmother ever followed a pattern exactly...LOL :D Good luck with the quilt and again, WELCOME!! :D
