Ohio Star Mini

I am making a 4 inch ohio star block and find when constructing the block - at the thickest corners (where there is lots of layers) I want to clip the corners to get rid of all the bulk. It doesnt say to do this in the instructions, but if left the block is SO thick in places. Not sure if I am making sense?

if you open the the seams it might work better

I agree I think opening the seams could help a lot.

Press them open. Grade the seam allowance a bit. Clip if you like as long as you don't clip through the stitching. Some people sew minis with an 1/8" seam allowance to reduce the bulk. But the open pressing may be enough alone.

Also -and some think this is just scandalous to beat fabric! - you can press the seams open then use a small hammer to flatten even more. Whack it a good one! It worked great for me.

Might help with my anger management too! Will do.
