not as hard as it sounds. cut 1/2 inch strip & start pulling off threads. (double it for 1 inch count)

How wide is the fabric? If its 42-44 inches, it's most likely yard goods.

That sounds like a sheet size. Like the others said if you're going to hand quilt it, it might be difficult because of the tighter weave. Batiks are often the same density as sheets, and they are more difficult to hand quilt through. If you are machine quilting, then there will be no problem.

Darn, must be a sheet. I made a sample block and the holes from stitches are bigger than they should be.
