Hi, a newcomer from snowy Iowa! I've been reading this site with great interest, learned a lot, and enjoyed your discussions.
I wonder if any of you have a hanky quilt pattern, made one, hints, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |
Hi there, at the top of the forum there is a search feature. Just type in hankie & you can see any of the previous postings about this as well.

What part of Iowa do you live in? I live in snowy Iowa too. We are expecting another big storm starting at midnight and going through Monday.

Thanks, I'll search the Forum.
I live on a farm in South West Iowa; just had 4" of snow and am expecting more through tomorrow! |
Quilter-world.com and their April '10 magazine has a table runner using old ladies hankies and doilies.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for. I have a pattern called Tea Baskets. Its from the book, Tea party Time, by Nancy Martin. In her pattern the handkerchief is the basket, which is sewed onto a block. If your interested just let me know. I can copy it and send it to you.

I've seen a couple of hanky patterns that look like the hankies are sewn on the quilt top. I don't think these used sashing, not sure. Anyone done one of these?
|
I just found this with pictures. Some ideas! anyone made one that has the hankies appliqued (like one of the pictures)?

wow those are nice ones in the link you added! One of the out of town quilt shops I go to has an old quilt hanging up with old hankies on it .... they are appliqued on to it in the shape of butterflies. If I remember next time I go there I will take a picture and post it for you, it is very pretty.

Thanks!
