I remember that magazine. It was a nice magazine. If I look through all my magazines, I probably have that edition.

Laurie, it is a great magazine. There are actually quilts in there that could be in todays magazines.

The article was great, too, and whats even more coincidental is that it had a photo of flooding in it, and my town just got flooded BAD. We lost 4 people in it.

I proably have that edition too, as I was a big QUILT fan back then. Just an FYI for newer quilters, Quilt Almanac is (was??? I'm not sure) published once a year. Traditional quilts like QUILT and great technique articles. If you can find them on Ebay for cheap, you'll learn a lot!

I love the older magazines the most! SO fun looking through the older ones!

I know, right?

What a hoot. My mom always cut her pieces by drawing around a template and cutting them by hand. I'd never consider doing that today.

There are still some times when I find it necessary to create my quilting pieces by doing that, Karen. Not everything can be rotary cut. I guess it depends on the pattern you are doing. What about cutting detailed applique pieces? How would you do that any other way?

You know, I actually like templates. To me, its the one way of getting things exact. I'm still not great with a rotary, especially on shapes other than perfect squares.

I also use the rotary cutter to cut around templates, too. Much faster than scissors, but still very accurate.
