I would add borders if you need to or want to but try to get fabrics that don't scream NEW~! :D

That is the same pattern I am repairing right now. Have its twin to do also. My Grandmother made quilts in twos after I was born (I had an older sister). I cannot add borders to mine because the backing, batting and binding are stilll good. My daughters requested I do them as they were.
