I may be wrong, but I think that any electric or hand crank machine can be placed on a table top. Some may require a wooden base that the machine sits in, as seen in this picture.

The gentleman who has the 66 says that a table top would prevent the inner workings of the machine to perform out of the cabinet.....I was wondering if the same it true for the 99? And does the 66 just have the knee control or can one opt for a foot pedal? I am just full of questions, but I cannot seem to find a site that separates the models in this way. If anyone knows of one, I would be very interested in studying about them! Thank You!

There is a Yahoo group for vintage Singers that you could join. They would be able to help with your questions. I do know that featherweights are table top models.

fruitmama Almost any electric machine can sit on the table. Even those in cases and frames can often be set directly on the table. It's easy to tell, just look at undercarriage and see if there are stubby legs that will hold it up. |
