I know the featherweight is nice, but very expensive. If you are not going to be lugging the machine around, save the money-------------for fabric!

If you want the machine simply for piecing, then the featherweight and all the other suggestions are fine.

If you want to actually quilt with the machine, either straight stitching with a walking foot or free motion, then you want a heavier duty machine than a featherweight with a larger harp (throat) size -- so more quilt can fit under the arm of the machine.
