Does anyone have this machine. I've had it for several years but have not been able to get info. on it. It is called Macy's Own, HERALD. That is the only thing I know. If anybody has info. on this machine, let me know. Yr.model, etc.
All orginal Only thing I know-name and that it was made in Japan. |
Looks like your basic Singer model 15 clone, made for Macy's by someone.

i also think it is clone of the Singer 15-91. you could probably get a 15-91 manual & do just fine with it. if it is
built as sturdy as the old Singer, it is quite a heavy-duty machine. not industrial though. you will love sewing on it ! |
Yeah, it looks like my 2 15's. I love them!

I also think this is a 15-91 clone. And you will love sewing on it. It sews anything! You can sew binding on a quilt with all the thicknesses like its moving through butter. I have the 15-91 and I have already told hubby, something happens to that machine I will be finding me another one. Enjoy.

Have you posted this in the vintage machine shop section?

Jennifer is correct about the differences between an 15-90 and 15-91. The 15 clone machines are of the 15-90 not the 15-91. The 15-91 does not have a belt. I agree that if the belt would fit a 15-90, then it should work. There are a couple of places that tell how to measure a sewing machine belt. Sew-classic has a pdf at http://www.shop.sew-classic.com/medi...%20install.pdf I don't know how long it will be there as she has closed her shop https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/wave.gif.
There a couple of differences between the Singer 15 and the 15 clones. One difference is that the flat of the needle on the clones goes on the right for the clones, whereas, the 15-90 has the flat on the left. The clones would be threaded from left to right through the eye of the needle. The other difference would be the drop feed for the clones is on the bed of the machine, in front of the pillar. There is a manual for a White 15 clone at https://res.cloudinary.com/singer-se...e-575-st-x.pdf There may be some differences in the bobbin area, but the rest of it should be helpful.
