Does anyone have an Oliso Iron and if so, what do you think of it? I have had several Rowenta Irons and eventually they ALWAYS leak or spit out water.

I have found the same problem with Rowenta and decided to do away with it. Got a Black and Decker Retro, so cute.
I tried a Oliso at a quilt class. Can't say I would spend the money on one, was not impressed, just my opinion.

I was wondering the same thing. That kick up it does is pretty cool. Lol dropped my Shark Iron yesterday, and now it leaks. Guess I'll go back to Costco and spend another $25. It'll eventually add up to an Oliso at this rate. Lolol.....unless.... What if I drop that one? Ha..

have not been happy with Oliso...nor have the shops around here...don't like that heavy Shark either..too top heavy, falls over very easily...sticking my Maytag cordless!

I have a small Proctor that I got at the thrift store. Works great... and doesn't leak----yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Didn't like it at all. I would spend my money on another brand. We sold them where I work. We soon quit. Not a good iron.

Love my oliso. Worth every penny I spent on it. Gets super hot and had no problems. If I ever have yo replace it will be with another one.

My aunt has a cordless one. Never knew about them before. Was thinking about getting one.

I had an Oliso and hated it because it is so darn heavy if you do have to move it from surface to surface. If you have a dedicated ironing space, it might be okay but I am happier with my Panasonic! I have one with a cord and a cordless one and really like them both. I take the corded one to classes. Neither have ever leaked and I have had both of them over five years now!

Yes, I have an Oliso Iron after about a half dozen Rowentas. It's okay. It takes a while to get used to not sitting the iron up. I've had mine almost a year and I've not had any problems except you have to be very careful not to fill it even one drop above the water fill line or it leaks water all over your material. I still like the Rowentas better but as long as I have no problems I'll keep using it.

Just for thought... I read in one thread where the Oliso's lift mechanism broke in just a few weeks. It is a lot of money for an iron.

The lift feature is awesome, and the iron gets very hot. Turns itself off in five (?) minutes or so. VERY pricey.

Same here! It's the only iron I will ever use now. :)

I had two. The buttons for steam stuck after a couple of months on both of them. I stick to my cheap Black and Decker when I'm piecing.

I have a Rowenta that I've had for years. Knock on wood but it has never spit. I use 50/50 tap and distilled water in it and never let set with water in it.

I did have a cordless before the Rowenta and absolutely loved it. It wasn't a Maytag but loved it being cordless.

I would like to get another cordless iron but not sure on what brand.

Looking at the prices of the Oliso iron, if ever that did quit working that's a heafty amount of money to have wasted.

I have an Oliso I bought from a friend who didn't like it. I have a dedicated ironing station, so don't have to move it around. I do like the 'pick me up' feature, but sometimes turn it off. There is a little button on the back you can flip to make it into a regular iron. I don't put water in mine but use a spray bottle, so no opinion on leaking. It gets nice and hot and does not take long to heat back up. I also have a cheapie Black and Decker I take places. Its light weight, get nice and hot and was not much money. (My husband has his OWN iron for his shirts...so I don't have to share with anyone!)

i' on my 7th one. all other dumped water "like a newborn" (this was an expression a company rep used). The yellow one (current) appears to be working ok. The early ones - no.

I got the oliso iron because ironing exacerbates my arthritis. I thought this might help. It does because I don't have to pick it up. It doesn't get as hot as my Black & Decker, but it's hot enough. I do a lot of applique. I don't like that I have to keep my hand on the iron while fusing. If I move my hand, the iron lifts up. I like some things about it, but not others. It doesn't leak. It just depends on your needs whether you will like it.

I got one at wholesale price from a friend who has a shop. I really like it, but probably would not spend that much for another. I love my little travel Black and Decker. Got it for taking to class, and use it in my quilt room by my machine, for pressing seams.

I've always wondered about these; Fons and Porter use the yellow one on TV. I just google searched them and you can get them as low as 49; depends on the watts you want. I just might try one. I have cheap irons and they work great; I had the shark but I don't like the fact that you can't change the auto off time frame; Oliso gives quilters an extra 30 minutes if needed. My shark didn't even go30 min. Sounds like worth trying. I've heard enough on this board to know I'd never try the Rowena due to issues w/leaking.

I do love my Oliso, but it is a few years old, the new ones cost more than my older one.

I LOVE MY OLISIO!!! :). I've had it for 6 mobths! A record for me, any other iron has only lasted at most a mobth. Our water is super duper hard, so I fill it with 1/2 tap and 1/2 bottled or distilled water.

Oh, did I mention I LOVE IT? I have the blue model.

Oh and mine has a switch on the heal so if you want to override/ or not use the lift feature, you can use it like any other iron.

That is a good feature. I also read that it has a setting to allow you to go an extra 30 min before shutting itself off. I hate auto feature on my Shark because it's so short. I normally use my oder iron that doesn't have an auto feature and just keep it plugged into a surge protector and turn it off when I'm done instead of turning the iron off.

My friend had her 1st Oliso for 4 years and it got LOTS of use. She just bought another one and I bought one as well. I am really loving it.

My first Rowenta was a leaker, and reluctantly I tried a second one. It has been nice and problem free. It's logged more miles then the Starship Enterprise and is still behaving itself.
