I have a Euro Steam that I bought at quilt show and it never spits. I use it mainly for pressing backings and a final press of quilt tops before long arming. I don't use steam when piecing. I prefer to use Best Press. Just bought a Panasonic cordless travel iron that I like very much for piecing.

I have a blue Oliso iron. I bought mine at Jo-Ann's on a special sale day and it cost around $50; this was about six months ago. So far, I love it! I've had Rowenta irons in the past and hated them. Before I got the Oliso, I was using an old Black & Decker that came from Wal-Mart, but it started spitting uncontrollably right about the same time I saw the Oliso on sale, so I took a chance.

I'm so tempted by the pink one, but my friend bought the yellow one. She had them replace it 3 times before she just got her money back. One thing after another with them... then the feet failed and burned up her ironing board. Thank goodness it didn't burn the house down.

I have had my Oliso for more than 5 years and it is going strong! I love it, and have had no problems. I use only distilled water.

Here's a suggestion for those of you who have a problem with your iron spitting. When I bought my last iron, which is a T-Fal the instructions said not to use tap water or purified water. I called the company and asked what kind of water I should use and they said spring water. Cured my spitting problems in all my irons. So give it a try -it worked for me.
