I was out in the studio working on the quilt then a huge storm came through and the electricity went out and I ad to come in and call it quits for tonite. I know before you say anything YES I was using a treadle like I always do but it was way too dark to see what I was doing. In fact it was really dark!! So I meandered inside and hung out until it came on. But I am getting close to finishing it!!

Yes I did about a year ago on my 1921 Singer 66 treadle. It is a scrappy I made for my 24yo son who has autism. Its his "Happy Scrappy" and matches his personality perfectly.

I like your festive, cute fabric! Looking forward to seeing the top complete.

I love it when I have uninterrupted quilting time, I hope you are enjoying yours. I like the block pattern that you are using and can _a l m o s t see how the quilt will come out BUT I still want to see a picture of it when you're done.

Well the top is done and I am waiting for the backing fabric to dry after drowning it in starch.
The more I look at it the more I hate it. I got a festive batik for the backing but it is just not melting my butter right now. I wish I had a small print or an broad cloth for the backing but I am going to finish the thing tonite!! Since my wife wanted something warm I got a high loft batting and I am going to quilt it very simple large cross hatch with the blocks STID quilted. It might not look that fancy or anything but if I quilted any way else it would compact the batting and it would not be as warm. Billy |
I like wide open spaces in the quilt to keep it warm and cuddly.
I can appreciate heavily quilted items with all that thread drawing, etc - - but, I prefer what you are describing for reasons of utility. <wave> |

Well here is the top, I have it basted and ready to quilt but I am going to give it a break. I have to get up early tomorrow morning and get some sewing machines in the mail and run to Sams to get some office supplies.
The pattern is out of "Quilter Magazine" either this months edition or the holiday edition one. I did change up the fabrics and decided to not go with the White corners on the 9 1/2" focus blocks. This changed the dynamics of the quilt completely and for the better in my opinion. Plus it made it a lot faster and easier to put together. ;) Billy |
Less white is better in my opinion (white and I do NOT get along! <g>) <wave>

Looks like just the right amount of white to make it pop!
