Once your quilt is blocked

OK, I got brave and entered one of my wallhangings in a local fair. I am ready to block it (mostly to remove the fold bends). Once it is blocked how do I store it until I deliver it to the fair? I don't want to fold it again. Should I roll it? It is too big to keep it flat to deliver it.

If you have a place to roll it and lay it ... that would work.

If not, you can fold it with pillows. Lay quilt down - lay pillow down - fold quilt over pillow. Even rolled up towels would work. Or rolled and folded batting. Anything 5" or more to keep a crease from forming.

Thanks Sue. Never blocked one before, but I do want this one to look good.

Duh, I just looked over at my cedar chest with a body pillow on it. It is nearly the width of the wallhanging. Guess it would be perfect.

When you said body pillow, I imagined a body wrapped in a quilt. Be a nasty surprise for the judges ;)

Thanks for the chuckle tesspug.

A pool noodle makes a nice light tube for rolling your work on. You can secure your work with pins into the noodle.

Must be time for me to take a nap...I looked at your post and swore I thought I saw "A poodle makes a nice...." LOL!

If you have a spare bedroom, you can lay it on the bed with a sheet over it.

Good for you for entering!

You've gotten some good suggestions, but I can add one thing - if you make the folds on the bias, they won't crease as much. You can stuff the folds with tissue if you want.

Good luck!
