So I finally made it to a guild meeting here and the ladies were wonderful. The guild does Quilts of Valor and Babylove. They had gotten in a box of quilts for Quilts of Valor from a guild in the states and a couple had a checkerboard pieced into the back with a pieced pocket and a baggy of checkers. Thought it was a cool idea. Thought I'd share.
Great idea. The checkers could even be made of fabric---------like the ever popular you-yos. |
Great idea for the checkerboard on the back of the quilts. Also like Edie's idea using the maps on the backs. Thanks for sharing.

Have any of you seen or done one of these? I think they are cool, but haven't managed to get one done yet.

Nice idea! It would also make a good back for a doll quilt, and if the doll isn't too picky about comfort, the "pillow" could be a little zippered bag full of checkers.

i saw that in a book and thought it was a cute idea thank you for reminding me of that

The one that I made was a different pattern - it had a hopscotch, checkerboard, tic tac toe, shoes to tie, numbers to count, a little personal book, pockets to hide things and an I spy border. Oh, I almost forgot also had a chalkboard.
