The janome7700 or the bailey 13?They are close in price if you add the stich regulator on the bailey.I want this machine so I can do FMQ on larger quilts, and I;m tetter-tottering between the two.

If I had the choice, this would be it bailey 13.
If I wanted to sew clothing and quilting and have an all around machine I'd buy the 7700. If I wanted to become proficient at FMQ I would buy a dedicated machine - the Bailey.
Are you going to put it on a frame? If so, I would go with the Bailey.
Personally, I would definitely go for the Bailey.

Bailey ... Test drive it first though. You will love a bailey on a frame. A high end janome on a frame ... You are paying for features not needed for fmq. Right now i am using a viking sapphire on a frame, and longing for a straight stitch only with large throat to use instead.

bailey, you can have a smaller machine for piecing
I agree with Dolphyngyrl.
