A Singer 185K for $25 (no attachments or case just one foot) or a Singer 301 long bed for $75 with case, manual and attachments. Which would you pick and why?
I would be very tempted to get both of them!
I am!
I would definitely get both!
I would get both, but if I had to chose I guess I would go with the 301. To buy attachments can be expensive
I'd pick the 301 because of the long bed.
I would do both, but the 301 wins due to the long bed. Cost of the attachments could put the value of the 185 up to the value of the 301.
Point to consider, Singer uses feet that work on other Singers. If they both have the same setup (low shank or slant shank) you can easily afford both. Set up one machine with one foot and the other machine with a different foot. |
301. I have one and it's a great machine. I have found feet for it online very reasonable. The 301 uses the same bobbin as the FeatherWeight. Perfect stitch and very quiet.
The 310 is a slant needle machine, so it's feet are only interchangable with the other slant needles - the 400s and maybe the 500s.
The 185 can use any short shank attachments you have laying around. In my book, the 301 wins. My 301, AnnieRose, is my piecing and FWQ machine. She does a great job at both. She is also light enough to take in public. |
Thanks for the input keep it coming!
