I have heard from quite a few people on the board who only like to piece quilts. When they finish piecing one they put it away and start something else or send it out to be quilted. They seem to almost "apologize" for not liking to quilt it. I personally like to do both but I feel each one to their own liking.
I was thinking about this today and came up with something that might "dignify" these "piecers". A mixologist is a bartender. A gynecologist is a female doctor. A radiologist is one who reads x-rays. A cosmetologist is a hairdresser. How about a "pieceologist"? Or what about a "piecing specialist"? Don't these sound "special"? Can anyone think of any other title to give these quilters?? |
These are great! lol

Piecemaker? Honestly, I'm better at piecing than machine quilting, but I'm still a quilter. And a gynecologist is not a female doctor, it's a doctor specializing in the female reproductive tract. There are plenty of male doctors who are gynecologists.

How about a piecing technican!
Or ....Strategic Placement Enginner Or ... Textile Recontructionist Or ....Fabric Adaptive Re-use Specialist Or ....Director of Fiber Merging |
Whatever the title, it made me chuckle. Love all the suggestions. And I don't have one to add.

Well, actually they'd be piecers not quilters but really does it matter if you're having fun? |
And someday you might send all those tops to the longarmer.

Personally I like to piece the tops by hand and machine and I don't care what you call me. Just call me if there is a good fabric sale somewhere cause i like to collect fabric too! kathyd |

Those would look good on a resume. Could get you a job.

I agree, no one should apologize for any part of quilting! A lot of people tie their quilts, and it is still a quilt!! :) It comes down to quilting should be something you love!! :)
