I am making a quilt from a kit with pre cut pieces. I am doing a block that requires applique. I got wonder under and was zipping right along until I realized I put the wonder under on the RIGHT side of the fabric instead of the underside. Am I out of luck or is there a solution to this problem. I do not want to wash the glue out as none of the cuts were washed. Is there anything I can rub on the glue side to remove the glue and then I can put the wonder under on the side it was supposed to go on....Any ideas??

Wonder under cannot be washed out, it is permanent :(

Yikes!! I have no idea as I've never used Wonder Under. I do hope ya figure out something though.

Sometimes the back of the fabric is just as nice as the front ... any chance it will still work as it is??

I've done the same thing. I ended up taking a similar fabric from my stash and using that instead.

I suppose there's no chance that those appliques are batiks is there? I'd use those either way! You could "redesign" the quilt to use the wrong side of the appliques. Even turning some of the other pieces to the wrong side. Just a thought. I've seen most everything done on one quilt or another!!

No way to remove wonder under - ask me how I know!!!! Hope you can use the back side of the fabric, that is the only remedy I agree.
|
can you post a picture of the fabric? maybe someone here has a small piece of it that they'd be willing to send your way.
|
Been there done that...mark it up to "learning Experiences"...find a similar piece or use the back?...sorry not what you want to hear

Hey Beebee I've done it too, and I put a piece of freezer paper on it and ironed it. I did small sections at a time and would keep using fresh pieces of paper as the wonder under would stick to it. I finally got it all off an was able to use my fabric again with the wonder under where should have been in the first place, on the back side. Hope this works for you.

My cousin spilled this on her clothes when we were working on some crafts and this is what we did..and it worked..
Take a piece of clean cotton and place the pocket face down on it. Press a hot iron on the pocket, pressing for a bit longer than you did to adhere the applique. Peel it away from the cotton. Move the cotton over to a clean spot. Repeat until the glue has been absorbed into the cotton. (You can do this with wax too). Hope this helps you. |
Thanks to all....I was thinking about using a hair dryer, but will do the hot iron thing...thanks thanks...my day now looks much brighter
