Opinion on Creative Grids Rulers
What is your opinion of the Creative Grids rulers? I need to buy a new 6" X 12" (or 6 1/2 X 12 1/2) ruler and a friend said she really likes the Creative Grids.

They are my go-to rulers. I have a set in multiple sizes so that I can use the same brand of ruler in a given project. I like the non-slip areas on the back and have found that I'm less likely to move a ruler while cutting.

So the non-slip areas really work well?
|
Yep - I also have a set of Omnigrid, but don't use those as often because of slippage.

I have the 8.5 x 24 inch one.
It's okay. The ruler that I like least now is the Quilter's Rule - the one with the raised ridges on the bottom. |
Hmm, I haven't seen that one. Will have to check it out.

I so love my Cr Grids. I have the 2 1/2, 3/12, and 4 1/2 for my mini cuts. The lines are narrow for precise cutting. I liked my omnigrid with yellow outlines until my eyes started to blur on me. I replaced my 6 x 12 and 6 x 24 with frosted Olfa's which I also like.
While on the subject of rulers, it's advisable to replace them when edges become worn. I was wondering why my width of fabric cuts were bowed, and realized the center of the ruler around the 10-14" marks were worn down enough to make a difference when I cut strips 1" or narrower. |
You know I never thought of that -- worn edges and bowed fabric cuts, but it makes perfect sense. Thanks for the info.
