Opinion Please - Quilt back or Quilt
2 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,
I need some opinions. The first picture is the quilt top I made for my neighbor's GS. I am now getting around to making the backing for it. The second pic is all the extra fabric and all the scraps from this quilt. I was going to use it for the backing but now I'm thinking it may be better used as a quilt top that, when finished, could be donated to a charity. So quilt back or quilt? Thanks to all who respond. |

I would make a second quilt too and make 2 children happy. If you do use it as the backing the quilt would certainly be reversible.
Both sides are cute so it is up to you.
I would use the left over scraps for another quilt or a pillow case for the gs. What ever you decide will be nice you have a good combinations of complimentary fabric. It is cute!
Love them both. Make it reversible and it will be two for one.
I'd make 2 quilts if it were me and keep the back solid.
I hardly ever make a solid back, so I would make it a reversible quilt. Both sides are very cute.
Very nice job on both of them. I would make 2 and keep the back solid.

my first thought was that the fabrics match the front so well, use it as a backing. but making 2 children happy is a good idea, too
I'm one to make the back as fun as the front so my vote is use the extra fabric for the back.
It would make a lovely quilt backing I think. It would also make a lovely 2nd quilt. I would use it for the backing as I often get tired of the same fabric in a 2nd quilt and it makes the first all the nicer.
Make two quilts. I did the same thing. When I showed my husband the front and back, he said why don't you make two quilts. I did. One looks modern and the other traditional.
I love pieced backs! I think a lot of my recipients do as well. My vote is for the back.
I love the idea of a reversible quilt. Looks pretty even when baby is wrapped up.
I'm sure either way 1 or 2 kids will be happy! Really great looking!
What a sweet quilt! I would use the second for the backing, as originally intended. Kids tend to use both sides of quilts/blankets. :)
I'd make two and keep the backing plain. Beautiful work!
I would use it as a quilt back. Adorable quilt!
Did you pay for the fabric or did your neighbor? If she paid for it, you should use it as the backing. After all, it is her GS's quilt. If you paid for it, then it's yours to do as you wish.
I would definitely consider making 2 quilts -- make 2 children happy and use mostly plain fabric for the backing. Great job.
You have two good looking quilts. Why give one up by using as a back. What advantage would that be, put one piece on the backs and have two quilts. We tend to look at the top of quilts and not the backs.....unless you have more quilts than you know what to do with.... Make two happy not just one.
I would use it for the back. They are both very nice and real cute.
