Opinions on colors

Hello all! I posted on here a few days ago about my shashing woes. The solution for me was getting the 2 1/2 strip die for my GO! Baby. I was able to get all my strips cut in about a half hour. It's amazing!!!
My husband thinks the Lime drowns out the other colors. What do you all think? |
Beautiful quilt blocks. I agree with hubby. All I see is green and not the nice quilt blocks. How about gray?
|
Maybe a lighter grey? Or maybe a creamy green? I dunno
|
I agree, the lime is a little bright for these blocks. On my computer the background print on the blocks looks like teal, could you sash in the same color? That way it might highlight the blocks more.

I am with your DH on this one. Save those lime green strips for a quilt done in brighter colors. It completely takes over your nice sampler blocks and does drown them out. If I spent all the time piecing those blocks, I would want them to be the star of the show. I would pick a very subdued sashing color that recedes into the background, I would try auditioning a light tan, ecru or cream color or gray like others have suggested. Or you can go in the opposite direction and see what a dark or chocolate brown sashing looks like. If you want your quilt to have a "pop" of color try auditioning cornerstones in a color that compliments your blocks but doesn't distract.

I like the green, but perhaps the sashing strips are a big wide they way you have it laid out so it is dominating. What if you used the same green but it was a bit more narrow?
|
My hubby is so not crafty but it looks like he hit the nail on the head here. Lol
I think I'll try a nice blue. I do have a blue that is the little square in the striped square down at the bottom. Maybe that color could work |
my first thought was that i really like the green... but then i realized, same as hubby, that your lovely blocks don't show up that well.
