I love my Janome MC 8200 for FMQ. A new one might run you around 2-2.5K unless, like me, you find a rebox. I paid $1400 a few years ago. Best money ever spent on a machine, I'd say:)

TF- I bought the Juki 2010 specifically for FMQ and i love it! My quilting has improved a lot with that machine. I got mine for less than $1000. It's a great machine and will do wallhangings and larger with no trouble.

Doing wall hangings, you're likely fine with a domestic machine with a large harp.
If you are really interested in a sit down like a Tiara, I can tell you that I bought mine used, with hardly any stitches on it, including a stitch regulator, a bunch of books and rulers and an overlay for less than half of what you quoted above by snooping on Craigslist in nearby large cities. It runs like a charm and I've never had a moments trouble with it. And boy, does it do wall hangings!!!! :thumbup: Watson |

It took me a couple of months or more till my Sweet 16 came up. It is used but I have already put more stitches on it than the original owner. They list all makes and models in locations all over the country. I had to wait for one to come close to me. Good luck

I agree with this. I bought a used Gammill--there is no way I could have afforded a new one when I got mine in 2013. Since you said that you won't be doing anything larger than a wallhanging,anyway not yet it sounds like the future might bring some larger quilts. I'd suggest you get as large of machine as you have space and can afford. Used are fine.
