Opinions needed quilted facing 'inside vs outside'

Hey Y'all,
I'm making this runner for a friend - in memory of her father. Other friends contributed the spool blocks, and I made the top/bottom block. Now I'm getting ready to quilt it and need some Quilty Feedback... I want to quilt a semi-circle of daisies on the top/bottom block's edges. Which looks best - the wreath facing outward - so the quilting fills in more of the white space? OR the wreath facing inward - so it looks like a semi-circle/wreath behind the large spool block? I want to get it marked this week and quilted next weekend. My friend can really use a little quilty-love...lost her father and then her home was damaged by Hurricane Laura. See the pictures of my EQ sketch and a photo of the runner at this point. (FYI - I've squared up the edges since taking the photo. I'm open to all ideas and suggestion - and thank you in advance! Blessings, Donna Mc <>< Blessings, Donna Mc |
I like the quilting on the left in the first picture, but you do like you like. Was your friend in GA or Louisiana? Sorry to hear of her losses. She must be devastated. My great niece in La lost her home.

I like the one on the left also I

I like the one on the left, just gives me an inclusive invited in feeling.

Although I suppose the one one the right could be arms reaching out to hug someone - - - - |
Outward looks more finished. Inward seem awkward to me. Lucky friend to have you in her life!

I like the one on the left too. What a cute runner!

Thank you all for the input. I went with the left - inward facing side. I just needed another quilter's eye/input to help me decide. (DH & DS are not very helpful. hahaha!)
Got it all marked today - just waiting on the backing fabric to arrive. I have yards & yards of fabric on hand...but the perfect piece was too small. Luckily, I found more & ordered. =) My friend lives in Lake Charles LA. Her home is damaged, but fixable. They have no power, tho'. That means no ac, no refrigerator, no ice, no running water. No 'regular' common comforts of home at all. Please pray for the entire area - for strength, courage and endurance, as well as for cooler weather to give them some relief from the oppressive heat/humidity while they work hard to repair and/or rebuild. I'll share pictures of the finished runner soon. =) Thanks!!! Donna Mc |
I like the way you did on the left one.
That hurricane was horrible. So much damage. I hope weather cooperates so they can get back to normal soon. |
