opinions on thread
In your opinion:
1) which brand of cotton thread produces the Least amount of lint? 2) do you prefer cotton or polyester for the quilting (not piecing)? TIA |
1) Aurifil
2) Tough one. I want to say cotton, but I really like Glide. |
I ditto wishfulthinking! Aurifil and Glide (poly)
|
I really can't answer the first question, as I only use Coats and Clarks for piecing on my featherweight. I clean the bobbin area with the change of about every two or three bobbins, some lint but not a whole lot. I only use A&E Permcore which is a poly for quilting on my Gammill.

I love Glide thread for machine quilting but for hand quilting I love a good cotton thread. I do wax my thread as I hand stitch which cuts down on lint or wear on the thread as you are stitching.

My favorite thread is Masterpiece by Superior, but I use a variety. Connecting Threads cotton was my linty one.

I prefer poly thread, mostly any of the 50 wt Superior ones. People say Aurifil is low lint, but I recently used a red one and the lint was terrible. It might be certain colors because white and gray aren’t bad.

keeping in mind it isn't just thread that causes lint, fabric is made of threads, and a lot of it is linty...particularly if you aren't a prewasher. I clean out my bobbin case every third bobbin and haven't found any thread brands to be a problem, my machines love them all.

I can piece with Aurifil, Craftsy or Connecting Threads. Haven't had the opportunity to try Glide Or Superior. My quilting machine only likes Craftsy for some strange reason.
|
My favorite threads for piecing are Aurifil and Bluprint's brand (forgot the name of it)
Not too experienced with machine quilting thread yet. |
